JLR 774D

Car No.00112

JLR remains a very original early type of straight six SE4 with a two tone interior and cotton reel gear stick and door handles. This is car number 122 as per the RSSOC register of the 295 cars produced by Reliant. JLR has an interesting and strange history which we have going back to 1974. In 1979 the car was involved in a minor traffic accident of which there is a handwritten report and sketch explaining why it was definitely not his fault! For whatever reason although still roadworthy JLR was never put back on the road and was then dry stored for some 42 years until we acquired the car in 2021. The car was complete and even had a factory repair panel for the wing damage. Because of this length of storage we have every reason to believe that the mileage indicated of 40,000 is genuine and this is substantiated by the general condition of the car. JLR has undergone a sympathetic restoration with us. The bodywork has been refinished in the dark metallic blue whilst the very original interior has been retrimmed with grey carpets and a new headlining. The chassis, engine and transmission have been overhauled with new brakes and suspension components. Only just completed JLR will be after getting on for half a century returning to the highways and will be a lovely addition to the 30 or so SE4 GT’s that are left. The car as normal will come with a full year’s MOT and have a free service/inspection after 2500 miles or 6 months.
