LGY 587D

Not so much a Barn Find as a Shed Find. LGY was rescued earlier this year from an old gentleman’s rear garden along with five other cars. It had been off the road for some time and had suffered from being stored in less than ideal conditions.

However, as it was apparent that LGY had been an owner's pride and joy at some time, it was therefore decided to recommission LGY. The chassis was found to be in very good condition and was refinished. Suspension and brakes were overhauled as necessary with new callipers, etc. Serviced and with new plugs and leads and a cleaned fuel system, LGY was back on the road and drove well in all four gears with a working overdrive on 3rd and top.

The interior of the car is striking with lovely instrumentation, and the boot with tool tray, tool roll, jack and handle is also very presentable, as is the under-bonnet area. The body is remarkably good with no cracks or structural defects in the normal areas. However, the paint has suffered in storage and ideally will need refinishing at some point. The car is finished in Lavender Blue.

LGY really needs now to be used regularly again and no doubt will need some TLC, fettling, and fine tuning. The reward will be a car that easily outperforms its contemporaries, looks good, and sounds even better.

LGY 587D is recorded on the RSSOC register.
